If you own an Xbox 360, then you know how awesome it is. It offers an incredible gaming experience for gamers and allows us to connect with other players around the world using the Xbox live option. Owning an Xbox console is rewarding, but unfortunately there a few problems that come with it also. Like every gamer knows, these problems are the red lights on Xbox.

These lights appear on the quadrant of your Xbox consoles power button. They range from one to four lights and can represent malfunctions like general hardware failure, overheating, AV connection problems or just basic technical difficulties.

Don't Panic! Thankfully these lights are usually pretty easy to fix. The level of difficulty also varies with the amount of lights that are blinking on your Xbox. Here are the various lights and what the mean.

If You See One Red Light Blinking On Your Xbox

If one red light is blinking on your Xbox then what that means is one or more cords are not working properly, or have been unplugged. No need to worry, this a relatively easy problem to fix, all you need to do is unplug all the cords from your Xbox console. Before doing this, make sure you turn off your power button. Failing to do so might result in damage to your console or worse, electrocution.

With that said, reconnecting all the cords back to your Xbox usually takes care of the problem. If it doesn't then you will probably need to buy some new cords.

If Two Red Lights Are Blinking On your Xbox

If you notice two red lights blinking on your Xbox then this is the result of overheating. Some of us hardcore gamers play videos so frequently that we sometimes forget to turn off our Xbox 360 consoles. I am just as guilty, I once left my Xbox on for an entire week! not good at all. It was pretty bummed out after that.

If you are experiencing overheating all you need to do is unplug all the cords from your console and set it in a well ventilated area to cool down. Don't put in the freezer, it'll fry your Xbox! Whoever came up with that needs some talking to.

Cooling off your console for a few hours should take care of the problem. Another mistake gamers make is to place their consoles on its side. Doing this will cover up the vents and stop air circulation, therefore speeding up the heating process. So its important to always keep your 360 standing.

If Four Red Lights Are Blinking On Your Xbox

If you see four red lights blinking on your Xbox then this is because the AV connection is either unplugged or not working. This is very easy to fix and they way you do this is by disconnecting the AV connection from your Xbox, wait a little bit, then reconnect it back again. Your problem should be fixed!

If it isn't then you will probably need to buy a new one.

Three Red Blinking Lights On Xbox- Ring Of Death

If three red lights are blinking on your Xbox then you are unfortunately witnessing the red ring of death. It is the most infamous and feared of all red lights on Xbox and means your console is suffering from General Hardware Failure. It is the hardest to fix. On rare occasions you can fix it by turning off your Xbox for a while, but most of us aren't that lucky.

Most gamers choose to ship their 360 to microsoft to get it fixed. the downside is it takes weeks to get it back and until then you're left with nothing to play. Another way is to pull out a screwdriver and fix your Xbox yourself, but if you don't know what you're doing you could do damage your Xbox beyond repair. No worries, there are some excellent guides available on the internet to help you with that.
